Terapixel Process
Category: Capture
The terapixel process combines capture, stitching and data processing so that images with a resolution in the region of one trillion pixels are created. Tens of thousands of frames are captured and joined into one single composite via a specially tuned data and computing workflow.
The first terapixel image was produced in 2012 as a feasibility study. The result is a single image in a special format beyond the PSB limit, with projection-related distortions as in 360-degree panoramas, and viewable only via deep zoom. The methodology was developed in our own work.
